London, 17th October 2012 --- The 2012-2013 AIPP Awards Ceremony was held on Sunday, the 14th of October, during the world’s most renowned hairdressing event, the Alternative Hair Show at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall (London). An enthusiastic audience made of 5,000 hairdressers from all around the world honoured the artistic achievements of five internationally acclaimed hairstylists: Rizos (Spain), Indira Schauwecker @ Toni&Guy (United Kingdom), Caterina Di Biase @ Heading Out (Australia), Klaus Peter Ochs (Germany) and X-Presion (Spain).
More than this, for the very first time, the AIPP in association with the Alternative Hair Show, also presented the AH+AIPP International Legend Award to the great hairdressing master Lluís Llongueras (Spain), recognizing the outstanding achievements and the inspirational mark he left in the global industry throughout his career. Lluís Llongueras was very thrilled and said it was really an honour to get an award honoring his fifty years of master work in the hairdressing industry, his salons and franchises, his International Institute and his magazine, books and videos. "I would like to sincerely congratulate the AIPP and the Alternative Hair Show for the good you do for our profession, and especially for blending the two events together: indispensable to globally dignify hairdressing".
Hosted by Roberto Pissimiglia, President of the AIPP (Association Internationale Presse Professionnelle Coiffure) and Tony Rizzo, Founder of the Alternative Hair Show, at the 16th annual AIPP Awards Ceremony event Rizos (Spain) won the Best Commercial Award for a beautiful collection made of styles easy to wear; Indira Schauwecker @ Toni&Guy (United Kingdom) grabbed the Best Avant-Garde Award for a futuristic collection researching new and original ideas with stunning textures & creative patterns; Caterina Di Biase @ Heading Out (Australia) earned the Best Photography Award for a collection composed of the best pictures from the point of view of originality and attention to detail; Klaus Peter Ochs (Germany) won the Best Men Award for his collection of new and appealing male styles; and X-Presion (Spain) conquered again the Best Video Award for a stunning and creative video showing their latest hairstyles' collection. Award recipients were voted by the AIPP Magazine Members throughout the world during last months. This year we've got a fabulous participation, having received 423 photo collections from 22 countries from all around the globe!!!
For Rizos (Spain) receiving the AIPP Award in the category of Best Commercial, is "a dream come true". "We can not be happier and it's a huge dose of motivation in order to continue trying to contribute to our work in the development of the hairdressing industry", they stated. "More than this, to receive this trophy at the Royal Albert Hall and within the Alternative Hair Show, which we had the pleasure of taking part in, is without a doubt one of the most special and emotional moments we have lived".
Indira Schauwecker @ Toni&Guy (United Kingdom) explained that "having won the title of 'Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year' at the British Hairdressing Awards, I thought I would be less scared and emotional collecting my AIPP Award, but standing there with my trophy in front of such a huge crowd of such talented and celebrated hairdressers – my heart was beating so fast! I have no words to describe how happy I am and how grateful I feel to have been voted the AIPP Avant Garde Hairdresser for 2012/13 – I am so grateful that people like my work and my dream is to inspire others, as I have found so much inspiration from the incredible talent that makes up our industry".
For Caterina Di Biase @ Heading Out (Australia), "it feels great, being recognized on the world stage for winning the AIPP Best Photo Award is a phenomenal achievement that I am really proud of. I worked tirelessly to create the collection inspired by the spirit of the Far East, we shot on location and the creative team recreated the feel of a spectacular monastery. I think we created a very contemporary, forward thinking trend driven collection".
Klaus Peter Ochs (Germany) won the Best Men Award for his collection of new and impeccable male styles. In Ochs' words, "the AIPP Awards are the most prestigious in the hairdressing industry. I am very honoured to get one of these awards for the 4th time in the last 9 years! Every Award Ceremony was a highlight, but this year in London in this fantastic Royal Albert Hall in front of 5,000 people was something very special! To create a new collection is always something very exciting for our company. For my artistic team and me these are the best days of the year!"
For X-Presion (Spain), winning an AIPP Award "it's simply incredible". "Because it's an independent award, for its impact and because it's organized and voted by the best international magazines from all around the world. We are eternally grateful to all media that support us – this is the 6th time (5 AIPP Awards +1 AIPP Grand Trophy) that we are lucky to win, but the Royal Albert Hall is still giving us goosebumps!". "Winning the Video Award again is great, because we think using video when displaying collections is the future – we did not want to show a making-of but a piece of art with music and video created for a fashion film where everyone could perfectly see our work".
Now it’s time to start the race for the AIPP Grand Trophy 2012-2013, where the 5 winners of the AIPP Awards compete against each other to become the over-all winner, by sending in their Fall-Winter Collections. The AIPP Grand Trophy 2012-2013 is going to be awarded next Spring 2012 in a prestigious venue still to be announced.
